FAQs

Everything you need to know about the Meridian experience.

What will my child take away?

A finished, original research paper, new research and writing skills, and the confidence that comes from creating something of their own.

Will this help with college admissions?

Universities value curiosity and initiative, and an original research paper is a memorable way to show both. It gives your child a genuine story to tell across their essays, activities and interviews.

How do mentors support my child?

Your child is matched with a PhD mentor in their chosen subject who guides them one-to-one through every stage of the project. The ideas and the writing always remain your child's own.

What happens after the paper is finished?

We help your child prepare their work for a journal, a competition or a symposium. Our team supports them through submission and presentation.

Can a grade 8 or grade 9 student take part?

Yes. Younger students work on projects suited to their stage, and starting early gives them more time to grow as researchers.

Can juniors and seniors join?

Yes. A single strong research paper can make a real difference, and we’ll advise you on the best timing in your free consultation.

Where does the research idea come from?

From your child’s own interests. Most students start with something broad, and finding the right question is the first thing they do with their mentor.

Is the program online?

Yes. All sessions take place over video, so your child can work with the best-matched mentor wherever they live.

How much time does the program take each week?

Usually 5 or more hours: one mentor session plus reading, research and writing in between. We plan around school, exams and holidays.

Will I know how the project is going?

Yes. You’ll receive regular progress updates, and your enrollment advisor is always happy to talk.
